Philadelphia Benzene Plaintiffs Resolve Claims Against Remaining Defendants

PHILADELPHIA –– Parties in a Philadelphia benzene suit that was scheduled to begin trial recently have reached a settlement agreement, according to court documents.

According to an April 1 disposition filed with the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas for Philadelphia County, the matter was settled “as to all defendants,” including U.S. Steel, Sunoco and the “remaining railroad defendants.”

Defendants Consolidated Rail Corp. and Norfolk Southern were dismissed prior to the settlement by stipulation, the disposition adds.

The plaintiffs filed the claims on behalf of Richard O’Lena, who allegedly developed Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) after exposure to benzene-containing products while …
