PHILADELPHIA –– A Philadelphia trial court has denied Sunoco’s (NYSE:SUN) efforts to obtain summary judgment in a benzene case, saying in a one-page order that “there are disputed issues of material fact.”
The Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas issued the order on Oct. 15, rejecting the defendant’s argument that the plaintiff had not presented enough evidence to support the benzene claims.
Jeanne Gans brought the lawsuit on behalf of George Gans, who was allegedly exposed to benzene while working as a steamfitter at J.J. White Inc. As a result of his employment, Gans performed work at refineries across Pennsylvania, where …
