Benzene Plaintiffs File Unopposed Motion to Substitute for Recently Deceased Plaintiff

NEW ORLEANS –– Defendants remaining in a Louisiana benzene case have filed a motion to substitute parties, noting that the plaintiff who brought the claims has succumbed to his alleged benzene-related injuries.

On Aug. 27, the defendants informed the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana that they did not intend to oppose the motion, which was filed in July.

In their motion, the plaintiffs reassert their allegations that Edward Authenment III was exposed to benzene while working as a deckhand and tankerman from 1977 to 1993. Authenment’s work at petrochemical facilities owned and operated by the defendants …
