DETROIT –– A Michigan federal judge overseeing a benzene case asserted by the surviving family members of a former Ford Motor Co. employee has issued an amended scheduling order, setting trial for Dec. 3.
In the July 24 order, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, noted that the deadline for the close of all discovery is Aug. 16, while in limine motions are due Oct. 28. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Nov. 12.
In September 2012, the court denied efforts by defendant Safety-Kleen Systems Inc. to obtain summary judgment on sophisticated user grounds.
