Philadelphia Court Denies Efforts to Apply Florida Law to Benzene Claims; Denies Summary Judgment Motions

PHILADELPHIA –– A Pennsylvania state court overseeing a benzene case has denied defense efforts to apply Florida law to the claims, according to a one-page order.
In the June 17 order, the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas for Philadelphia County denies the motion to apply Florida law and orders the Pennsylvania law “shall apply to all aspects of this case.”
In separate one-page orders entered in May and June, the court also denied summary judgment motions filed by Safety-Kleen Systems Inc., U.S. Steel Corp., Sunoco Inc., and The Pep Boys – Manny, Moe & Jack.
