Mechanic in Pennsylvania Files Benzene Complaint, Says Liquid Wrench Use Contributed to AML

PHILADELPHIA –– A former mechanic in Pennsylvania has filed a benzene action in state court, contending that exposure to the allegedly harmful products caused him to develop acute myelogenous leukemia.

In the first amended complaint, filed March 5 in the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas for Philadelphia County, the plaintiffs contend that Layne Kleinschmit’s employment as a mechanic required him to work with benzene-containing products.

As a mechanic for more than 30 years, Kleinschmit was employed by Proctor & Gamble, Heinze, Wicks Lumber Co., Hayes-Albion Corp., Toledo Pickling & Steel Sales Inc. and Materion Brush, Inc.
