NEW ORLEANS –– A Louisiana benzene case slated for trial in April has settled, according to a notice of settlement filed with the court on March 26.

In the notice the U.S. Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana said that “following discussions among the parties, the [case] has settled.”

The underlying claims were filed by Hollis and Edna Faye Boutain. The plaintiffs contend that Hollis Boutain was exposed to benzene-containing products while he performed maintenance work at a gas station and refinery. Plaintiffs claim that as a result of the exposure, Hollis developed Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
