Parties in Louisiana Benzene Case Slated for June Trial Reach Settlement

NEW ORLEANS –– Parties in a benzene case that was scheduled to start trial on June 10 have reached a settlement agreement, according to a recent order of dismissal.
The one-page order, issued March 11 by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, says that the court was informed by the parties, including ExxonMobil, that they had “firmly agreed upon a compromise in this matter.”
In February, the District Court granted an unopposed plaintiff motion to continue, pushing back the trial to June.
