Louisiana Woman Says She Was Exposed to Benzene When Cleaning up BP Oil Spill

NEW ORLEANS –– A woman who was part of a team directed to help clean up the BP oil spill has filed a lawsuit in Louisiana federal court, claiming that she was exposed to benzene.

In the December complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the plaintiff additionally contends that she was battered, harassed, intimidated and threatened as a “direct result of her gender.”
