NEW ORLEANS –– Chevron USA Inc. (NYSE:CVX), a defendant in a Louisiana benzene case, is opposing efforts made by the plaintiffs to amend the lawsuit, contending that the request is not timely and, further, is not made in good faith.
In the Jan. 22 opposition brief filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the defendant further claims that it would be prejudiced if the court were to allow such an amendment.
Hollis and Edna Faye Boutain allege that Hollis was exposed to benzene-containing products while he performed maintenance work at a gas station and refinery. …
