Laborer Files Benzene Complaint, Cites Exposure in Refineries in PA, NJ, OH, DE

PHILADELPHIA –– A former laborer has filed a lawsuit in Pennsylvania state court, contending that his work as an independent contractor in four states required him to work with benzene-containing products.

As a result of the exposure, the plaintiff developed acute myelogenous leukemia, according to the complaint, filed Nov. 21 in the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas for Philadelphia County.

The plaintiffs contend in the lawsuit that Andre Harvey’s work as an independently contracted laborer and boiler maker at several refineries in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Ohio exposed him to benzene-containing products.
