Louisiana Court Denies Motions to Compel, Says Requests Overly Broad

NEW ORLEANS -- Efforts by plaintiffs seeking a court order to compel supplemental responses to discovery requests have been denied by a Louisiana federal court, according to recent orders entered in the pending benzene case. Wright, et al. v. Shell Offshore Inc., et al., No. 10-2108 (E.D. La.).

In separate orders filed Jan. 25 and 26, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana declined to compel two defendants to answer interrogatories the plaintiff deemed necessary, instead concluding that the requests were overly broad.
