Federal Court Grants Motion to Quash in Benzene Case

NEW ORLEANS -- A Louisiana federal court has granted a defense motion to quash subpoenas issued by the plaintiffs, which a defendant had called a "fishing expedition." Morin v. Chevron U.S.A. Inc, et al., No. 11-00045 (E.D. La.).
In the one-page Oct. 26 order, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana did stipulate that the motion to quash was granted, but "only at this time."
"After further discovery, plaintiffs shall be allowed to reset the deposition and the return date on the subpoena duces tecum on or after December 9, 2011," the order states.
