Ill. Plaintiff Says Refinery Negligently Leaked Benzene into Surrounding Neighborhoods

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- A new lawsuit has been filed in Illinois state court alleging that a local refinery polluted surrounding neighborhoods with benzene. Elble v. Shell Oil Co., et al., No. 11-L-867 (Ill. 3rd Jud. Cir. Ct., Madison Cty.).
In the Aug. 31 lawsuit, filed in the Illinois 3rd Judicial Circuit Court for Madison County, Gail Elble contends that she lived, or spent a considerable amount of time, in the neighborhoods in close proximity to the refinery for a period of more than 20 years.
