Senate Veterans Affairs Committee Approves Camp Lejeune Legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs has approved legislation that would provide healthcare for veterans who allege exposure to a variety of contaminants -- including benzene -- at Camp Lejeune's marine base in North Carolina, according to a news update released by the bill's sponsor. Caring for Camp Lejeune Veterans Act, S.B. 277 (U.S. Senate).

The committee approved the legislation on June 29, according to the office of Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.). The legislation will now head to the Senate for debate.
