JPML Opts to Keep Georgia as Location for Camp Lejeune MDL

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation has decided to keep the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia as the location for the recently-created Camp Lejeune Water Contamination MDL, rejecting efforts by a single plaintiff to have his claims heard in North Carolina. In re: Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Water Contamination Litigation, MDL No. 2218 (JPML).
In the May 20 ruling, the JPML said "while transfer ... might inconvenience some of the parties to that action, such a transfer is often necessary to further the expeditious resolution of the litigation taken as a whole."
