DECATUR, Ill. -- Another former Firestone employee has filed a benzene case in Illinois state court, contending that years of exposure to benzene at the facility caused him to develop chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Hill, et al. v. Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc., et al., No. n/a (Ill. Cir. Ct., 6th Jud. Cir., Macon Cty.).
The complaint, filed recently in the Illinois 6th Judicial Circuit Court for Macon County, follows a June ruling from an Illinois appellate court that found a benzene plaintiff with similar claims had overcome the exclusivity provision of the Workers' Compensation Act and therefore could pursue intentional tort …
