Texas Parties Select Mediator Prior to July Deadline

BEAUMONT, Texas -- Parties in a Texas benzene case have alerted the federal court in which the claims are pending that they have agreed on a mediator and will mediate the case prior to the July 26 deadline, according to a recent filing. Smith, et al. v. E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Co., et al., No. 08-385 (E.D. Texas).

On May 15, counsel for the plaintiff told Judge Thad Heartfield of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas that the parties have selected Robert A. Black in Beaumont, Texas as the mediator.
