Asbestos Case Transferred To Maine by Texas High Court

DALLAS - A case involving the claims of a Maine resident, who was allegedly exposed to asbestos while working in Maine, should not be tried in Texas, the Texas Supreme Court has ruled. In re General Electric Co., et al., No. 07-0195 (Texas Sup.).

The Supreme Court panel, led by Justice Phil Johnson, ruled in a Dec. 5 order that the defendant companies would suffer "substantial injustice" if the case were tried in Texas because a majority of the witnesses and evidence are located in Maine.
