Court Dismisses 30,000 Claims in Response to Recent High Court Decision

CLEVELAND -- Three judges in the Ohio Court of Common Pleas for Cuyahoga County have dismissed 30,000 asbestos claims after the Ohio Supreme Court found that retroactive application of the state's medical criteria legislation was constitutional, according to published reports.
The actions were taken in late October, just days after the Ohio Supreme Court ruled that retroactive application of the asbestos medical criteria law to claims pending at the time of its enactment does not offend the Ohio Constitution.
