Jury Awards $3.6 Million in Meso Case Involving Secondhand Exposure

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A Florida jury has awarded $3,606,000 in a disputed mesothelioma case in which the plaintiffs alleged exposure to asbestos occurred through secondhand exposure. Daly, et al. v. Ford Motor Co., et al., No. 07-19211 (Fla. Jud. 17th Jud. Cir. Ct., Broward Cty.).
The defendants remaining in the Nov. 3 verdict from the Florida 17th Judicial Circuit Court for Broward County were Ford Motor Co. and Pneumo Abex.
The claims were asserted by Lynda and Michael Daly, who claimed that Lynda Daly's mesothelioma was caused by secondhand, household exposure to asbestos in brakes.
