photo-7 Article: "Characterization of Vehicular Brake Service Personnel Exposure to Airborne Asbestos and Particulate"
Summary: An evaluation of tests performed to evaluate asbestos fibers and total particulate generated during the servicing of drum brakes and during the resurfacing of brake shoes. The tests reveal that asbestos fiber concentrations generated during these tests on a time weighted average basis should not exceed currently acceptable workplace standards, regardless of whether the worker uses compressed air. The same holds true for the arc grinding, or resurfacing of brake shoes, when the procedure is conducted in accordance with the design of the equipment.
