Ohio Jury Finds for Car Manufacturers in Asbestos Case




CLEVELAND -- An Ohio jury has reached a defense verdict for three automobile manufacturers, rejecting claims that work with the defendants' brakes caused mesothelioma. Bier, et al. v. A.W. Chesterton Inc., et al., No. 578389 (Ohio Ct. Comm. Pls., Cuyahoga Cty.).

On Oct. 3, an Ohio Court of Common Pleas for Cuyahoga County jury reached the verdict, rejecting the claims of James R. Bier and Cathy Bier.

Judge Leo M. Spellacy presided over the trial.

The Biers claimed that James' work performing anywhere between 350-700 brake jobs on Chrysler, Ford and General Motors cars exposed him to asbestos. James Brier …
