LOS ANGELES -- A California jury has awarded $14,876,000 to a U.S. citizen who claimed his exposure to asbestos at petroleum refineries in Iran caused his mesothelioma, sources told HarrisMartin. Shahabi v. A.W. Chesterton, et al., No. BC379085 (Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.).

The Los Angeles County Superior Court jury reached the verdict on Aug. 11, after more than one month of trial and three days of deliberations, assessing 45 percent liability to defendant Fluor Corp., but finding no liability on the part of two other defendants also involved in the case at the time of the verdict.
