Douglas Pohl, M.D., Ph.D., Asbestos Expert, Dies in Plane Crash

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. -- Noted asbestos expert Douglas Pohl of Jupiter, Florida, died in a plane crash on July 7, according to published reports. He was 57.
Pohl held a private pilot license and was the only person aboard the aircraft when it lost power earlier this month after take-off from the Pembroke Pines (Fla.) airport.
Pohl was a pathologist who was called upon often to testify during asbestos trials.
He held the position of chief pathologist for Central Maine Medical Center for 10 years and founded Silver Wings Aviation at a Maine airport one year after leaving CMMC, according …
