Ohio Jury Awards $8 Million in Case Against Elliott Turbomachinery




CLEVELAND -- An Ohio jury has awarded $8 million to plaintiffs asserting claims on behalf of a former insulator, who allegedly developed mesothelioma as a result of exposure to asbestos in insulation used in turbines, valves and pumps. Fischer, et al. v. Armstrong International Inc., et al., No. 615514 (Ohio Ct. Comm. Pls., Cuyahoga Cty.).

The June 10 jury award entered by the Ohio Court of Common Pleas for Cuyahoga County jury allocated 45 percent liability against Elliott Turbomachinery at the conclusion of the six-day trial, sources said. The jury's decision was unanimous and was reached after three hours of …
