MIAMI -- A Florida jury has awarded $24,170,000 at the conclusion of a mesothelioma trial, allocating 100 percent liability to Honeywell in what sources told HarrisMartin is the largest compensatory damage verdict against a single defendant in Florida's history. Guilder, et al. v. Honeywell International, Inc., No. 07-36683 (Fla. 11th Jud. Cir. Ct, Miami-Dade Cty.).

The Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court for Miami-Dade County reached the verdict April 25 after fewer than three hours of deliberation, sources said. Judge Richard Y. Feeder presided over the trial.

The claims were asserted by Stephen E. Guilder along with his wife and three children. …
