Parties Reach Settlement 1 Week into Asbestos Exposure Trial

PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The parties remaining in an asbestos case have reached a confidential settlement after one week of trial, sources told HarrisMartin. Blalock v. Georgia-Pacific Corp., et al., No. 2004-CA-1663 (Fla. 1st Jud. Cir. Ct., Escambia Cty.).

Trial had begun in the Florida First Judicial Circuit Court for Escambia County before remaining defendant Georgia-Pacific and plaintiff Bruce Blalock reached the agreement on March 14, sources said.

The trial was presided over by Judge Paul Rasmussen.

Bruce Blalock claimed his peritoneal mesothelioma was caused by exposure to Georgia-Pacific's joint compound products during his childhood and teenage years. During those …
