Mass. Jury Finds Against Electrician in Living Meso Case

BROCKTON, Mass. -- A Massachusetts jury has rejected the asbestos claims of an electrician, instead accepting the remaining defendants' arguments that their products did not cause the plaintiff's peritoneal mesothelioma. Donlan, et al. v. Certainteed, No. 07-0774 (Mass. Super. Ct., Plymouth Cty.).
The Plymouth County (Mass.) Superior Court jury reached the verdict on March 19 after three weeks of trial and one day of deliberations, sources told HarrisMartin.
In doing so, the jury concluded that CertainTeed's cement pipe and United Gilsonite Laboratories' joint compound products were not a substantial contributing factor in Robert Donlan's asbestos-related injury.
