More Than $11 Million Awarded in Texas Asbestos Suit

SWEETWATER, Texas - A Texas man who was diagnosed with mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos-containing products during the 1950s has been awarded $11.1 million by a jury in Nolan County. Hutchison v. Combustion Engineering, et al., No. 18215 (Texas Dist., Nolan Cty.).
The jury returned its verdict Aug. 22 against defendants Owens-Illinois and Combustion Engineering. Both were assessed 25 percent liability. The verdict stems from a lawsuit filed a year ago by Bob Hutchison and his wife, Joyce, after Hutchison developed mesothelioma.
