$2.25 Million Awarded to Former Electrician in N.Y. Chrysotile Case




NEW YORK -- A New York jury has found John Crane liable for a former electrician's mesothelioma, awarding $2.25 million in non-economic damages to the representatives of the man's estate. Shafer, et al. v. Atlas Turner Inc., et al., No. 108297/03 (N.Y. Sup. Ct., 1st Jud. Dist.).

The New York Supreme Court, First Judicial District jury reached the verdict on Feb. 1 after a trial presided over by Justice Martin Shulman.

John Crane was the lone remaining defendant at the time of the verdict and was assessed 100 percent liability by the jury, sources told HarrisMartin.
