Jury Enters $1.749 Million Verdict; Parties Settle during Punitive Deliberations

LOS ANGELES -- A California jury awarded a $1.749 million to the widow of a former welder and pipefitter before the parties reached a settlement during punitive damages deliberations, sources told Harrismartin. Barlow v. American Standard, et al., No. BC335153 (Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.).

The lone defendant remaining at the time of the verdict, Elliott Co., was assessed 40 percent liability by the Los Angeles County Superior Court jury on Dec. 11. The trial was presided over by Judge Helen I. Bendix.
