California Jury Finds for Calaveras Asbestos in Chrysotile Trial

SAN FRANCISCO -- A jury has rejected claims asserted by representatives of the estate of a former pipeline worker who allegedly developed mesothelioma after exposure to asbestos-containing cement pipe. Motheral v. Calaveras Asbestos Ltd., et al. No. 424870 (Calif. Super. Ct., San Francisco Cty.).

The verdict was reached on Sept. 11 after a 21-day trial overseen by Judge John K. Stewart of the San Francisco Superior Court.

The surviving family members of Gail Motheral filed the lawsuit, contending that Gail's exposure to asbestos cement pipe caused him to develop mesothelioma. The plaintiffs contended that a portion of the cement pipe …
