Meeting Planned in Wake of Decision to Slash Manville Payment

NEW YORK - Federal judges in New York have called together interested parties to discuss whether the Manville Personal Injury Trust's recent decision to slash the amount it pays on individual asbestos claims warrants any serious action. In re Joint Eastern and Southern Districts Asbestos Litigation, Nos. 82B11656 - 82B11676 (E.D. N.Y.).
In a Nov. 7 order, U.S. District Judge Jack B. Weinstein of the Eastern District of New York and U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Burton R. Lifland of New York's Southern District, set the meeting to discuss the reduction.
