Baltimore Jury Awards $40 Million to Five Asbestos Plaintiffs

BALTIMORE - A jury in a consolidated case in Baltimore has found defendants Harbison Walker, A.P. Green and AC&S negligent and strictly liable for exposing five plaintiffs to asbestos, awarding a verdict totalling $40 million. Cargile v. AC&S, No. n/a ( Md. Cir. Ct., Baltimore City).
The 6-member jury awarded amounts ranging from $3.4 million to $15 million Dec. 6 for pain and suffering, medical and funeral bills and, for three of the five plaintiffs, loss of life.
The five plaintiffs included three pipefitters, a bricklayer and a daughter of another pipefitter.
