LOS ANGELES -- A jury has awarded $5.2 million in a mesothelioma trial in which lone remaining defendant Foster Wheeler was assessed 30 percent liability, sources told HarrisMartin. Walmach, et al. v. Aqua-Chem, et al., No. BC336186 (Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.).
Sources said that the Los Angeles County Superior Court jury awarded $3.2 million in compensatory damages on May 22 and $2 million in punitive damages on May 23. Judge Kenneth R. Freeman presided over the trial.
Sources said that the jury found that Foster Wheeler had acted with malice.
