SAN FRANCISCO - Several groups have filed an amici curiae brief in support of a petition to review a court order standardizing discovery requirements in asbestos cases, saying the scope of the order is overbroad, unconstitutional and sacrifices fairness for alleged efficiency. In re Complex Asbestos Litigation, No. S151439 (Calif. Sup. Ct.).
The April 11 letter brief requests that the California Supreme Court grant water valve manufacturer Watts Regulator Co.'s petition for review and invalidate the set of standard interrogatories and document production requirements mandated by San Francisco Superior Court General Order No. 129.
