Del. Jury Awards $2 Million to Former Auto Mechanic

WILMINGTON, Del. -- A former mechanic who claimed his exposure to asbestos-containing brake and clutch mechanisms caused his mesothelioma has been awarded $2 million in compensatory damages by a Delaware jury. Grenier v. General Motors Corp., et al., No. CA NO 05C-11-257 ASD (Del. Super. Ct., New Castle Cty.).
The New Castle County Superior Court jury on March 2 assessed 70 percent liability to General Motors Corp. and 16 percent to Ford Motor Co. The remaining two percent was allocated to seven other defendants that were no longer involved in the case, sources said.
