Pa. Jury Awards $65,000 in Medical Causation Phase; Case Later Settles

PHILADELPHIA -- A Pennsylvania jury awarded $65,000 to the estate of a former 3M Co. plant worker at the conclusion of the medical causation phase in a reverse bifurcated trial, sources told HarrisMartin. Jobes v. Asbestos Corp. Ltd., et al., No. n/a (Pa. Ct. Comm. Pls., Philadelphia Cty.).
Shortly after the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas jury reached the verdict on Feb. 12, the parties reached a settlement agreement, sources indicated. The case was tried with Stafford v. Honeywell, which ended in a defense verdict on Feb. 12. See related story in the March 2006 issue of COLUMNS-Asbestos.
