$150 Million Awarded to Six Workers Exposed to Asbestos

LEXINGTON, Miss. - A jury in Mississippi has awarded $150 million to six men who alleged they were exposed to asbestos while working at several Mississippi locations during the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Simeon Johnson v. ACandS, et al., No. CV2000-181 (Miss. Cir. Ct., Holmes Cty.).
The verdict, handed up Oct. 26 in Holmes County Circuit Court, is believed to be one of the largest compensatory damage awards in the history of asbestos litigation. The jury rejected the plaintiffs' bid for punitive damages.
