EPA Seeks to Recover Over $10 Million from W.R. Grace For Libby Cleanup Costs

MISSOULA, Mont. - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has filed a lawsuit against W.R. Grace & Co. in federal district court in Montana in an attempt recover more than $10 million it has spent investigating and cleaning up asbestos contamination from Grace's vermiculite mine and processing plant in Libby, Mont. United States of America v. W.R. Grace & Co., et al., No. 01-72-M-DWM (D. Mont.).
The March 30 suit also seeks a declaratory judgment for any future costs incurred by the EPA in further investigations and cleanup at the sites.
