December 4, 2006
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- A jury has awarded $850,000 to the widow of a former builder and inspector of pipe covering. Blessing v. Honeywell, No. n/a (Ill. Cir. Ct., McLean Cty).
The Illinois Circuit Court for McLean County jury reached the verdict on Nov. 27. Honeywell International Inc. was the lone remaining defendant at the time of the verdict.
Judith Blessing claimed that her husband, Robert Blessing, worked for Union Asbestos and Rubber Co. for seven years. Blessing's employment required him to work with asbestos-containing pipe covering which led to his development of mesothelioma, Judith Blessing argued.
