Jury Awards $25 Million in Brake Relining Factory Exposure Case

NEW YORK -- A plaintiff who worked with DaimlerChrysler brakes at a relining factory has been awarded $25 million. D'Ulisse v. Amchem, et al., No. 113939/04 (N.Y. Sup. Ct.).
The Nov. 22 verdict was reached after a two-and-a-half month trial overseen by Judge Louis B. York of the New York Supreme Court.
Alfred D'Ulisse claimed that his mesothelioma was caused by exposure to asbestos-containing brakes manufactured by DaimlerChrysler. D'Ulisse specifically worked at Morak Inc., a relining factory.
Sources said that Ford, General Motors and Abex settled with the plaintiffs during trial, leaving only DaimlerChrysler at the time of the verdict. …
