Man With Lung Cancer, Peritoneal Mesothelioma Awarded $5.9 Million

SAN FRANCISCO -- A man suffering from peritoneal mesothelioma and lung cancer has been awarded $5.9 million by a California jury. Johnsen, et ux. v. Kaiser Gypsum Co., et al., No. 442973 (Calif. Super. Ct., San Francisco Cty.).
The California Superior Court for San Francisco County jury on May 18 awarded Robert Johnsen $5 million in pain and suffering and $940,000 in lost income and medical expenses.
Johnsen claimed that his peritoneal mesothelioma and lung cancer were caused by his exposure to Kaiser Gypsum's drywall products that Johnsen used while working on remodeling projects.
