Miss. Sup. Ct. Dismisses Claims of 17 Non-resident Asbestos Plaintiffs

JACKSON, Miss. - Mississippi's highest court has dismissed the asbestos claims of 17 out-of-state plaintiffs, saying there would be 'serious administrative difficulty' if the cases were permitted to proceed in Mississippi. 3M Co. v. Simeon Johnson, et al., No. 2004-IA-00289-SCT (Miss. Sup. Ct.).

In the April 13 order reversing a trial court ruling, the Supreme Court also remanded the claims of one additional claimant with orders that the trial court apply the multi-factor balancing test to determine if he could establish a connection with Mississippi.
