Kansas City Jury Awards $10 Million to Building Engineer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A jury in Kansas City has awarded $10 million to a man who claimed he developed mesothelioma after years of exposure to asbestos-laden fireproofing spray. Hoskins v. Federal Mogul, No. CV-206172 (Mo. Cir. Ct., Jackson Cty.).
The Jackson County Circuit Court jury awarded the verdict March 8 to Forest D. Hoskins, a former building engineer at Business Men's Assurance Co.
According to counsel involved in the case, it was the first asbestos case tried in Jackson County in more than 10 years.
