Georgia Court Grants Summary Judgment on Clothing Exposure Claims

BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- A federal court has partially granted summary judgment to CSX Transportation, finding that recent caselaw precludes claims alleging third-party exposure to work clothing. Wood, et al. v. CSX Transportation, No. CV294-008 (S.D. Ga.).

Plaintiff Charlotte Wood asserted claims on the behalf of the estate of James Wood, who she claims developed an asbestos-related lung disease while working for CSX Transportation. Wood also claims that James was exposed to asbestos dust through work clothing worn by another member of the family employed by CSX.
