WILMINGTON, Del. -- A federal judge has estimated that Federal-Mogul's asbestos liabilities in the United States are $9 billion and $400 million in the United Kingdom. In re: Federal-Mogul Global Inc., No. 01-10578 (D. Del.).
On Aug. 19, Judge Joseph H. Rodriquez of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware stated that the amount reflects the 'total of contingent and unliquidated claims against Turner and Newall Limited for personal injury or death caused by exposure to asbestos (including pending and future claims).'
