Claimants Suing UNR Trust over Imposition of Filing Fee

CHICAGO - Two men suffering from asbestos-related illnesses who filed claims with the UNR Asbestos-Disease Claims Trust have sued the trust alleging it violated a reorganization agreement when it imposed a $100 filing fee for all claims submitted after a certain date. In Re: UNR Industries, Inc., et al., Nos. 82B9841-82B9851 (N.D. Ill. Bankr.).

The complaint, filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois, alleges that by requiring the $100 fee, the trust is now violating the terms of the trust's claims resolution procedures established when UNR filed its plan of reorganization in February 1990.
