Judge Vacates $150,000 Sanctions Award

BEAUMONT, Texas -- A state court judge has vacated an award of $150,000 in sanctions entered late last month against asbestos defendant Kaiser Gypsum, sources told HarrisMartin Publishing. Allen v. ABOC Industries, B169628 (Texas 60th Dist. Ct., Jefferson Cty.).
Sources indicated that Texas 60th District Court for Jefferson County Judge Gary Sanderson's decision to vacate the award was not opposed by the plaintiffs.
The sanctions were originally entered June 17 by Judge Sanderson. At the time, sources stated that it was unclear whether the award would be entered against Kaiser Gypsum, or the defendant's counsel.
